Fox Chase Cancer Center announces staff appointments
Fox Chase Cancer Center announced three staff appointments.
Rajeswari Nagarathinam , MD, has joined the department of pathology at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Nagarathinam, who is completing a surgical oncologic pathology fellowship at Fox Chase, will focus on surgical pathology and cytopathology.
“We are excited to retain Dr. Nagarathinam and bring her into a new role here at Fox Chase,” Arthur Patchefsky, MD, chair of pathology at Fox Chase, said in a press release. “Her knowledge and experience in pathology is an asset to the Center and our patients.”
Nagarathinam received her medical degree from Coimbatore Medical College in India. She completed residency training in pathology at Madras Medical College in India, as well as a residency in pathology at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
“I am honored to continue serving the patients of Fox Chase and their families,” Nagarathinam said in the release. “I look forward to working with Dr. Patchefsky and the rest of the team in advancing the department of pathology to better serve our patients.”
Abhishek Aphale , MD, has been appointed assistant professor of dermatology.
Aphale received his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed his residency training at University of Michigan, and completed a procedural dermatology fellowship at Dermatologic Surgicenter in Pennsylvania.
Aphale specializes in Mohs’ surgery and reconstruction, as well as cutaneous oncology. His research interests include squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, melanoma and rare cutaneous tumors.
“I am so excited to join Fox Chase,” Aphale said in a press release. “I look forward to working with everyone in the community.”
Molly E. Collins, MD, joined the department of hematology/oncology. She will provide additional physician support for the Fox Chase Cancer Center — Temple University Hospital Pain and Palliative Care Program.
“Her experience and wealth of knowledge in palliative medicine will help us to deliver the best supportive care to our patients,” Marcin Chwistek, MD, FAAHPM, director of the pain and palliative care program, said in the release. “Dr. Collins will also be an asset to our growing group of first-rate physicians.”
Collins worked as an intern and resident at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and later as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She is completing a fellowship at Harvard Medical School in its interprofessional palliative care program.
She will start at Fox Chase on Aug. 1.
