“I am looking forward to working with all of the NCCN board members and NCCN staff, with the goal of improving patient care and the patient experience for all people with cancer,” Eberlein said in a press release.

Eberlein succeeds Samuel M. Silver, MD, PhD, who served as chairman of the board since 2013. Silver is professor of internal medicine and assistant dean for research at University of Michigan Medical School, as well as a HemOnc Today Editorial Board member.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Dr. Silver for the past 3 years, and he has left an indelible impact on NCCN from his tenure as chair of the board of directors. We thank him for his service,” Robert W. Carlson, MD, CEO of the NCCN, said in the release. “We are eager to continue our program growth under the leadership of Dr. Eberlein.”

Several other members of the NCCN board were elected to new offices. Jan C. Buckner, MD, of May Clinic Cancer Center in Rochester, Minnesota, will serve as vice chair. Lori C. Pickens, MHA, of Duke Cancer Institute will serve as secretary. Dorothy E. Puhy, MBA, of Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center and Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, will serve as treasurer.
