Barbara Pro, MD, a medical oncologist who specializes in research into and treatment of Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, has joined Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.

Pro will serve as professor of medicine in the division of hematology/oncology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She also will serve as director of Northwestern Medicine Developmental Therapeutic Institute’s fellowship program.

She will focus on improving treatment options for patients with all types of lymphoma.

“Barbara is an outstanding physician, scientist and mentor,” cancer center director Leonidas Platanias, MD, PhD, said in a press release. “Her leadership will help us launch the next generation of innovative clinical researchers.”

Pro most recently served as professor of medical oncology, chief of the lymphoma section and director of the multidisciplinary cutaneous lymphoma clinic at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals in Philadelphia. She previously served as attending physician and faculty member at Fox Chase Cancer Center and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

“I am looking forward to joining a great institution, an outstanding team of physicians and scientists, and using my expertise in clinical trials and drug development to help advance discovery and treatment of patients with lymphoma,” Pro said in the press release.
