Robert G. Uzzo, MD, FACS, chair of the department of surgery and co-leader of the genitourinary cancer treatment team at Fox Chase Cancer Center—Temple Health, has been elected to the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons.

The association, which has about 75 American urologist members, is one of the most prestigious societies of academic and clinical urologists in the world.

Uzzo is an attending surgeon of urologic oncology and professor at Fox Chase. His clinical interests focus on treatment for kidney, prostate, testicular and bladder cancers, with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat urinary diversions.

Uzzo serves as the G. Willing “Wing” Pepper chair in cancer research. He also is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is the national urology principle investigator for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group trial to evaluate targeted therapies for kidney cancers.
