City of Hope announced several staff and faculty appointments.

Victoria L. Seewaldt, MD, a nationally renowned specialist in high-risk breast and ovarian cancer, will serve as Ruth Ziegler chair in population sciences. Seewaldt, an expert in cancer prediction and prevention, will advance the institution’s efforts to ensure its research reflects and represents the diversity within City of Hope’s community.

“City of Hope is extremely fortunate to welcome a physician and researcher with Dr. Seewaldt’s deep understanding of high-risk cancers and how that affects the community,” Steven T. Rosen, provost and chief scientific officer at City of Hope, said in a press release. “With her guidance, experience and vision, our Population Sciences Department will be able to improve outcomes not only for patients today, but also for patients tomorrow.”  

In other faculty news:

  • Debbie C. Thurmond, PhD, will serve as professor and founding chair of the department of molecular and cellular endocrinology.
  • Xiaochun Yu, MD, PhD, has been appointed professor in the department of radiation biology.
  • Stephanie B. Boswell, MD, has been named assistant clinical professor in the department of diagnostic radiology.
  • Jonathan N. Warner, MD, will serve as assistant clinical professor in the department of surgery. Warner specializes in urologic oncology.
  • Stephen Lee, MD, has been appointed assistant clinical professor in the department of surgery. Lee specializes in gynecologic oncology.
  • Loretta Erhunmwunsee, MD, will serve as assistant professor in the division of thoracic surgery.
  • Yu Liang, MD, PhD, has been appointed assistant clinical professor in the department of pathology. Liang specializes in bone and soft tissue pathology.
