Diane Simeone, MD, has been named chair-elect of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s national scientific and medical advisory board.

Simeone, founding director of University of Michigan’s Pancreatic Cancer Center, will begin a 2-year term as chair in 2017.

Simeone also leads the translational oncology program at the university’s North Campus Research Complex, and she is past president of the American Pancreatic Association and Society of University Surgeons.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is designed to promote hope for patients with pancreatic cancer through its research, support, advocacy and community outreach efforts.

Julie Fleshman, president and CEO of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, said in a press release. “We look forward to working with her in this new capacity as we work towards our goal to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020.”
