Kristin Stegenga, PhD, RN, CPON, has been named editor of Journal of Pediatric Oncology Nursing.

The journal, an official publication of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses, publishes peer-reviewed research that advances clinical nursing care of children and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders.

Stegenga has been an association member since 1993 and served on the journal’s editorial board for 4 years.

“Dr. Stegenga has demonstrated excellence in leadership, writing, mentoring and peer review,” association president Jami Gattuso MSN, RN, CPON, said in a press release. “Her thoughtful critique, insightful reviews and meticulous attention to detail will ensure that JOPON continues to be the distinguished journal for our specialty.”

Stegenga is a nurse researcher at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She has served as a research mentor with the Children’s Oncology Group Nursing Research Traineeship, as well as a reviewer for the Oncology Nursing Society Foundation Research Grant Core Review Team.
