Lebwohl begins American Academy of Dermatology presidency term
SAN FRANSISCO — Mark Lebwohl, MD, FAAD, assumed his presidency of the American Academy of Dermatology this week at the conclusion of the organization's most recent annual meeting, here.
Lebwohl will hold the office for 1 year, during which time he will also serve as president of the American Academy of Dermatology Association, according to a press release.
"I'm honored to take the helm at this time of change, as dermatologists adapt to the changes in the health care system while continuing to provide quality care to patients with skin, hair and nail conditions," he said in the release. "Dermatologists have unique training and expertise, and we need to ensure that the services we offer are fairly valued and that patients have full access to our care and to the treatments we prescribe."
Prior to his appointment, Lebwohl served as a member of the Academy's board of directors. He is a former chair of the Scientific Assembly Committee and a former assistant editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, as well as past-president of the Manhattan-Metropolitan Dermatological Society, State Society of Dermatology and the NY Dermatological Society, according to the release.
