“I look forward to improving communication between the board and the physicians in Florida, in an effort to ensure that every physician in Florida meets the requirements for a safe practice,” Orr said in a press release. “My goal is to educate more physicians to assure their capability in the service of the people of Florida.”
Orr has been certified by the American Board of Obstetrics since 1983, and he earned a subspecialty certification in gynecologic oncology in 1984. He has served on the Florida Board of Medicine since 2010, and he served as the board’s vice chair in 2013.
Orr previously served as president of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the Florida Society of Gynecologic Oncology, and the Florida Obstetrical and Gynecologic Society.
“Dr. Orr has always shown an ongoing compassion toward the field and a devotion to clinical research, and he is very deserving of this tremendous honor,” Constantine A. Mantz, MD, 21st Century Oncology’s chief medical officer, said in a press release. “Having him serve as the chair for the Florida Board of Medicine will allow him to endeavor to bring his high quality standards of care throughout the state.”
