Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center made the following faculty announcements:
- Satish Shanbhag, MBBS, MPH, has been appointed medical director of the medical oncology/hematology outpatient practice at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He will provide clinical leadership, oversight and direction to faculty members and other clinical team members, including nurses, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, medical assistants, and social workers.
- Jeffrey S. Huo, MD, PhD, has been appointed instructor of oncology and pediatrics. Huo’s research focuses on epigenetic reprogramming in stem cells and cancer, as well as development of a stem-cell based model of human retinoblastoma.
- Nicolas J. Llosa, MD, has been appointed instructor of oncology and pediatrics. Llosa’s research focus is to analyze colorectal cancers, looking for genetic fingerprints that help the immune system recognize and fight cancer cells. Llosa will use similar strategies to find immune therapy targets in sarcomas.
- Allison Martin, MD, has been appointed instructor of oncology and pediatrics. Martin will continue her work on immunotherapy for medulloblastoma. She also will study PD-L1 expression in a panel of pediatric brain tumors, including high-grade gliomas, in hopes of developing a phase 1 clinical trial of anti-PD–1 therapy in pediatric brain tumors.
