Vandana Abramson, MD, received the Advanced Clinical Research Award in Breast Cancer from ASCO’s Conquer Cancer Foundation.
Abramson, assistant professor of medicine and a breast cancer specialist at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, will receive $450,000 over 3 years. The grant will fund two complementary clinical trials designed to evaluate novel, molecularly targeted treatments for subtypes of triple-negative breast cancer.
“I am thrilled and honored to receive this important grant award,” Abramson said in a press release. “This crucial funding will help support my research to improve therapies for breast cancer patients.”
Abramson received her bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkeley, and her medical degree from University of Chicago. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and hematology/oncology training at University of Pennsylvania. She joined the Vanderbilt University faculty in 2009.
