Children’s hospital appoints BMT director

Edwin M. Horwitz, MD, PhD, has been appointed director of blood and marrow transplant at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Horwitz also will serve as a professor in both pediatrics and medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Horwitz to Nationwide Children’s Hospital,” Timothy Cripe, MD, PhD, division chief of hematology/oncology/BMT at Nationwide Children’s and a professor of pediatrics at Ohio State University College of Medicine, said in a press release. “His expertise will be invaluable to our patients and to our team, as well as expand our services in our blood and marrow transplant program.”

Horwitz, board certified in pediatric hematology/oncology, previously served as attending physician at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
