The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer named Bryan Schneider, MD, a physician scientist and associate professor of medicine and medical and molecular genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine, as the Vera Bradley investigator in oncology.

Schneider, a researcher in the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research Laboratories at the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center, developed a clinical trial designed to evaluate personalized medicine for women with triple-negative breast cancer. The study aims to evaluate DNA biomarkers to establish therapy regimens for women with early-stage disease.

“Bryan Schneider is the obvious choice to hold the Vera Bradley title,” Catherine Hill, executive director of the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, said in a press release. “Through his collaborative spirit, passion for the work and pure brilliance, he personifies what makes the whole team great.”

In 2011, ASCO’s Conquer Cancer Foundation presented Schneider with the Advanced Clinical Research Award in Breast Cancer. Schneider also received the foundation’s career development award in 2006 and merit awards in 2002 and 2003.

“It is a privilege and a great honor to hold the title of the Vera Bradley investigator,” Schneider said in the release. “The enthusiasm and passion that Vera Bradley Foundation volunteers and professionals have for curing this disease inspires me as I work to help women live longer, healthier lives after a diagnosis of breast cancer.”
