Center announces awards, appointments
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center recently announced the following awards and appointments:
• Michael S. Glickman, MD, a member of the infectious diseases service in the department of medicine and head of a laboratory in the Sloan-Kettering Institute’s Immunology Program, has been named the incumbent of an Alfred P. Sloan Chair.
Glickman, a physician-scientist who specializes in the treatment and study of infectious diseases, cares for patients with a variety of infections. His research laboratory studies the molecular biology of mycobacterial pathogens such as tuberculosis and the therapy of bladder cancer with BCG, a live mycobacterium.
• Richard C. Meagher, PhD, has been appointed chief and laboratory director of the newly established cellular therapy service in the department of laboratory medicine.
Meagher also has been appointed an associate attending scientist on the bone marrow transplant service in the departments of medicine and pediatrics.
Meagher has developed novel methods and procedures for the collection and long-term cryopreservation of human stem cell sources, including bone marrow, hematopoietic growth factor-mobilized peripheral blood progenitors and umbilical cord blood cells.

has been named CEO at the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention.Gina VillaniThe center is a partnership with Memorial Sloan-Kettering that provides cancer screening, treatment and outreach services to the culturally diverse communities of Harlem and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Villani, who is board certified in hematology, medical oncology and internal medicine, will continue a clinical practice at the center in addition to directing its overall operations, programs and clinical activities.
