Precision medicine in IBD, we're not there yet, actually. Precision medicine is looking at more of a directed therapy for specific patients, and can we identify those patients prior to starting therapy? There are a lot of studies in the pipeline because the IBD treatment landscape is changing. There's a lot of studies looking at genetic factors, and we're working on that, I think, as a scientific community. I'm just not sure where actually there yet.

Healio spoke with Florence-Damilola Odufalu, MD, assistant professor of medicine at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, about the future of inflammatory bowel disease and precision medicine.
