In this Healio video exclusive, Jessica Lebovits, RD, CDN, a clinical dietitian at the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University, discusses tips and resources to help patients maintain a gluten-free diet throughout the school year.
“Now that you are in back-to-school mode, take some time to think about the foods you want to include,” Lebovits said. “Here are some helpful tips on mastering your gluten-free diet during the school year: try to include as many naturally gluten-free foods as possible; always read food labels; remember to eat a complete breakfast to fuel yourself for the day ahead and ensure you’re not tempted to eat gluten-containing foods.”
“The only approved therapy for celiac disease is a gluten-free diet, so don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment with the dietitian to get your school year started on the right foot,” she said.
