In a Healio Gastroenterology video exclusive, Klaus Mergener, MD, PhD, MBA, of the University of Washington, summarized his recent presentation on gastroenterology practice in a post-COVID world at GI Outlook.
“Going forward, a couple of things are important: One is, again, make sure the practice is managed professionally. Secondly, continue to work on increasing efficiencies in your endo center, you are dependent on cash flow and efficient high throughput operations,” Mergener said. “Third, you need to network; when these kinds of situations like a pandemic or any other challenge happens, it’s good not to have to reinvent the wheel but to be able to quickly talk to colleagues, figure out how they are approaching a problem and then learn from them immediately and quickly. Last, but not least, I’m hoping that all of you will continue to be very involved with the professional societies.”
