This award goes to a patient advocate or advocacy group that moved the needle on a disease in regard to discussion in the public sphere, better communication between patients and providers and/or advocacy for legislative or regulatory action (drug approvals, insurance coverage, etc).
The awardee is recognized by physicians as a resource for patients and/or an equal in discussion of the disease state.
For 16 years, the Colon Cancer Coalition has encouraged the world to “Get Your Rear in Gear.” After losing her sister to colon cancer in 2002, Kristin Lindquist made this her mission.
Today, as part of the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable, the Colon Cancer Coalition works to raise screening rates via support for screening programs and community-based events that drive home the importance of screening. Thank you for your work over nearly 2 decades, Kristin and the Colon Cancer Coalition, and we are honored to bestow our 2021 Patient Voice award to you.
