VIDEO: 6 signature traits for characterizing inclusive leadership
LAS VEGAS — In this exclusive video from Crohn’s & Colitis Congress, Neera Gupta, MD, MAS, director of research of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Weill Cornell Medicine, discusses some highlights from the meeting.
Gupta noted that one of the sessions she attended involved discussions surrounding guidelines for managing inflammatory bowel disease.
“Interestingly, the speakers noted that most guidelines do not change clinical practice,” Gupta told Healio Gastroenterology and Liver Disease. “They suggested steps to change this including increasing awareness of guidelines, increasing agreement with [and] adoption of and adherence to guidelines.”
Additionally, Gupta mentioned she attended the Women in IBD Breakfast and discussed how the topic of inclusive leadership was center stage during the event.
“Six signature traits identified as characterizing inclusive leadership included cognizance, courage, commitment, curiosity, cultural intelligence and collaboration,” she said. “It was really a nice opportunity to meet with and talk with other women in our field.”
