MDCalc, a provider of online evidence-based medical calculators, has launched its new guideline summaries in a public beta and its first set of summaries debuted at the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Scientific Meeting, according to a press release.
The ACG first partnered with MDCalc in 2017 with the provider initially serving as official medical calculators of the GI society.
“We’re thrilled to be building on our existing collaboration with the ACG,” MDCalc co-founder Joseph Habboushe, MD, MBA, said in the release. “With their position as the leading GI society, plus MDCalc’s broad user base and platform, we’ll be able to make their guidelines much more accessible not only to practicing GI doctors, but also to all clinicians treating patients with GI complaints.”
“We are looking forward to expanding the partnership with MDCalc, in light of their insight and expertise in delivering clinically useful tools for busy clinicians,” ACG President Sunanda V. Kane, MD, MSPH, FACG, said in the release.
The guideline summaries were developed in collaboration among MDCalc, the guideline authors, MDCalc’s pool of expert contributors, and ACG’s Practice Parameters Committee, to offer interactive summaries of official ACG guidelines to physicians at the point of care.
“Our partnership with MDCalc is of vital importance as we try and disseminate important ACG clinical practice guidelines to our membership in a format that is portable, accessible, and convenient,” David W. Wan, MD, FACG, Chair of the ACG Practice Parameters Committee, said in the release.
