VIDEO: Fujifilm showcases minimally invasive surgical options at ACG 2018
PHILADELPHIA — In this exclusive video from the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Meeting, Stephen Mariano, vice president and general manager of Fujifilm New Development, USA, discusses the company’s minimally invasive, surgical devices.
“We have been developing a variety of technologies, specifically endoscopy solutions ... that help with diagnosis and treatment, and those technologies have been applied in a variety of clinical procedures,” Mariano told Healio Gastroenterology and Liver Disease. “Building on that long, deep history and a stable foundation of Fujifilm, we’ve expanded into minimally invasive surgical with a variety of robust products that are rigid endoscopies, as well as endoscopy solutions.”
Mariano said Fujifilm believes its smaller Ultra Slim video laparoscope — introduced earlier this year — will help patients undergo procedures with less pain and faster recovery. It has also gotten some positive reviews for its efficiency from the medical community, he said.
“Many have stated lower fatigue,” he said. “They’ve also mentioned that they may eliminate instrument exchanges based on the imagining technologies. Those are all things that we feel will help the clinician, the practitioner.”
