VIDEO: Personalized IBD treatment can enable proactive care
ORLANDO — In this exclusive video from the World Congress of Gastroenterology at ACG 2017, Corey A. Siegel, MD, MS, associate professor of medicine and director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, called on physicians to provide patient-focused, proactive and personalized care to patients with inflammatory bowel disease, which he discussed during the American Journal of Gastroenterology Lecture.
In his lecture, he argued that by personalizing IBD care, in part by assessing patients with risk stratification tools like the PROSPECT model, physicians can then provide proactive care to prevent complications in their IBD patients.
“My talk was really focused on the idea that we need to do better,” he told Healio Gastroenterology and Liver Disease. “We have so many great medications in our armamentarium, and ways to use them, but some data I presented showed that we’re still not using them at the right time, in the right patients.”
