The GI Quality Improvement Consortium Inc., or GIQuIC, has begun moving to a new, more agile technical platform, hosted by FIGmd, to better support participants and teams who use their registry for clinical benchmarking, quality improvement and reporting to payers, according to a press release.

“With the exponential growth in cases reported through the GIQuIC registry, this move to a platform powered by FIGmd creates opportunities for new features and functionality, including an online calculator to estimate the financial impact that the Merit-based Incentive Payment System will have on a gastroenterologist’s reimbursement,” Glenn M. Eisen, MD, MPH, FASGE, president of the GIQuIC board of directors, said.

GIQuIC plans to fully migrate to the new FIGmd platform by October 2, 2017. FIGmd, a leading registry vendor, collaborates with some organizations serving cardiology, ophthalmology, urology and neurology, according to the release. GIQuIC hopes to make their new registry functionally equivalent to their current platform from the start. GIQuIC vendors and participants will not need to act during this registry platform move as the only notable change will be where data are uploaded and reports are run.

“Those who use the GIQuIC registry will experience a seamless and easy transition as FIGmd aims to provide functional equivalence to the current platform,” Sanket Baralay, CEO of FIGmd, said in the release. “Our experience and technology will help GIQuIC achieve new milestones in meaningful performance measurement and quality improvement.”
