LAS VEGAS — In this exclusive video from ACG 2016, Evan S. Dellon, MD, MPH, associate professor of medicine and epidemiology at the Center for Esophageal Diseases and Swallowing at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Chapel Hill, NC, discusses his presentation on treating complex patients with eosinophilic esophagitis.

“The approach ... for complex EoE patients is to make sure you’re dealing with EoE, that you’ve confirmed the diagnosis and that the esophageal eosinophilia isn’t from a different condition; to use a stepwise approach where you try one treatment in sequence to fully assess their response ... and then for patients who are truly refractory, clinical trials are often a good option because there’s not a lot of other treatments.”
