On behalf of SLACK Incorporated, publisher of Healio Gastroenterology, I would like to congratulate the members of the newly minted Healio Gastroenterology 200.

The editors and publisher of Healio Gastroenterology compiled the inaugural Healio Gastroenterology 200, a list of gastroenterology and hepatology professionals we identified as leading innovators across the specialties from inflammatory bowel disease to endoscopy, from hepatitis C virus to esophageal disease. We gathered together the names of clinicians, educators and researchers working to reshape the gastroenterology field.

The list is a compilation of physicians who either work to educate their colleagues; conduct research into new and novel technologies to advance the profession; or innovate the unique aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology. The editors and publisher went with our collected knowledge and experience with these individuals, running the names past trusted Peer Perspective Board members. Admittedly, we know we may have missed other innovators, but overall we believe the list represents the ever-changing fields.

Gastroenterology represents a changing and growing field of medical practice, and our hope is the Healio Gastroenterology 200 will be a great tool for kick-starting conversations and expanding your voice in health care. We plan to continue using the Healio Gastroenterology 200 as a way to encourage discussion and to share viewpoints about issues facing physicians in gastroenterology and hepatology.

We will be surveying our Healio Gastroenterology 200 on a regular basis to gather insight on the latest debates in the field and reaching out for their perspectives on approvals, guidelines and the newest data both published and presented.

Do you want to join the discussion? If so, please reach out to us, share your ideas and feel free to note if you believe yourself or a colleague needs to be on the list. We look forward to your ideas on how we can do even better for our readers and the gastroenterology community as a whole.
