With the emergence of all-oral and even once-daily direct-acting antivirals achieving high levels of sustained virologic response, the diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis C virus promises to continue its dramatic increase. Gastroenterologists are a natural extension of the continuum of care for these patients.
In conjunction with our sister publication, HCV Next, we spoke with both hepatologists and gastroenterologists skilled in HCV treatment about how this collaboration will affect gastroenterology practice and what can be done to increase the odds for success.
Please visit Healio.com/HCV to see the other parts of this series, which focus on the primary care physician, the infectious disease specialist and, eventually, the addiction medicine specialist. Each of these specialties play a different role in caring for patients with HCV. Together, the possibility of eradicating this disease becomes a nearer reality.
Additionally, with our By The Numbers feature, we acknowledge GERD Awareness Week with the latest research put out by our experts.
We welcome feedback from our readers on both of these features. How are you managing patients with HCV? What new research would you like to see in our pages? Please reach out to us with your input and continue to visit us at Healio.com/GI.
