WASHINGTON — Starting Saturday, May 16, Healio Gastroenterology and Healio.com/Gastroenterology will be onsite in Washington, D.C., to offer live coverage of Digestive Disease Week 2015. Coverage will include the latest in scientific research, clinical symposia and keynote lectures as well as video interviews with the researchers themselves.

DDW brings together four major societies — the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract and the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease — to give an all-encompassing overview of the latest research in digestive diseases.

Douglas G. Adler

David T. Rubin

Colleen M. Schmitt, MD, MHS, FASGE, president of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, told Healio.com/Gastroenterology, “The topic fora that the Annual Scientific Program put together are really a seamless way to approach some of our most common clinical problems in addition to presenting folks with ideas of what’s in store for the future. One of the things I like about the topic fora is they’re typically bracketed with a State-of-the-Art Lecture by a real expert in the field, and there really is something for everybody.”

Healio Gastroenterology Peer Perspective Board member, Douglas G. Adler, MD, FACG, AGAF, FASGE, will present on the hot topic of managing ERCP complications while Board Member David T. Rubin, MD, will take on your toughest cases of Crohn’s disease in a Discussion with an Expert session.

Experts from all societies are looking forward to the late-breaking abstract presentations on Tuesday, May 19, the last day of the meeting.

“This year we partnered with all the other societies to create one submission portal for late breaking abstracts, which all the societies would have the opportunity to evaluate,” Richard M. Peek Jr., MD, AGAF, program chair for AGA told Healio.com/Gastroenterology.  “We received more late-breaking abstract submissions this year that we’ve ever received — more than 125 were submitted. Really, the bar is extremely high for acceptance of late-breaking abstracts.”
