The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, has repeated as the No. 1 hospital in the U.S. for diabetes and endocrinology, according to the U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-2025 Best Hospitals rankings.
U.S. News & World Report released its Best Hospitals ranking for 2024-2025 on Tuesday. The organization evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals in more than 30 medical and surgical services.
“Choosing the right hospital to match your needs shouldn’t be a guessing game,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News & World Report, said in a press release. “The 2024-2025 edition of Best Hospitals provides patients and their families clear, data-driven insights on hospital performance and empowers Americans to choose the facility best suited to their specific health care needs.”
The top five U.S. hospitals for diabetes and endocrinology according to the 2024-2025 Best Hospitals rankings are:
- 1. Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota
- T-2. Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston
- T-2. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell
- 4. UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles
- 5. NYU Langone Hospitals in New York
Mayo Clinic continues its long run atop the rankings for diabetes and endocrinology. According to the Mayo Clinic, the institution has been ranked as the top hospital for diabetes and endocrinology for 28 consecutive years.
“This ranking is a testament to the outstanding patient care that our multidisciplinary teams provide for patients with complex endocrine disorders in addition to our excellence in research and education of our learners,” Robert A. Wermers, MD, chair of the division of endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism and nutrition at Mayo Clinic, told Healio. “We always keep the needs of our patients at the forefront of everything we do and closely collaborate with our multidisciplinary teams in that regard.”
Brigham and Women’s Hospital made the largest jump of this year’s top five, moving up from 11th in 2023-2024 to a tie for second in 2024-2025. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell is also tied for second after being ranked third in 2023-2024. UCLA Medical Center moved up two spots after being ranked sixth in 2023-2024. NYU Langone Hospitals fell to fifth this year after being ranked second in 2023-2024.
This year’s ranking also includes an inaugural list of the best regional hospitals for equitable access. The list highlights 98 hospitals for their success in caring for patients from historically underserved communities. U.S. News & World Report also named 20 hospitals to its Honor Roll for exceptional breadth and depth of excellence
