PHILADELPHIA — In this video exclusive, George L. Bakris, MD, professor of medicine and director of the American Society for Hypertension Comprehensive Hypertension Center, University of Chicago Medicine, discusses the agenda of the first Heart in Diabetes Conference.

The conference is being attended by experts from around the world to speak on specific topics related to diabetes care, evolution in the management of people with diabetes and understanding better mechanisms of how agents work to reduce cardiovascular events, he said.

“The meeting is serving as a dialogue center for people to ask questions based on the data and it really a think tank more than an actual meeting ... to really promulgate new ideas for new research that would further the science,” Bakris said.
