In a recent statement, the Endocrine Society applauded Novo Nordisk’s partnership with CVS Caremark to create a prescription saving program that offers discounts on certain medications, including insulin.

The program, Reduced Rx, went into effect on May 10 and allows people with diabetes to purchase human insulin (Novolin, Novo Nordisk) for $25 per 10 mL vial, which is a potential $100 savings, according to the statement.

The Endocrine Society is “encouraged” by Novo Nordisk’s efforts and continues to believe that transparency across the insulin supply chain and advocacy can result in making this life-saving medication affordable for those who need it, according to the statement.
