Upcoming conference highlights advances in obesity science, treatment

In November, ObesityWeek 2015, will feature more than 1,500 research abstracts on new and emerging obesity treatments, the science of weight loss, new prevention strategies, metabolic surgery, digital health technology and public policy.

The annual meeting is expected to bring more than 6,000 international obesity clinical and research professionals and those in fields related to fitness, nutrition, nursing and primary care to the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles from November 2 to 7 to learn about the latest research on up-and-coming topics related to obesity.

Attendees will have access to 5 days of scientific sessions, case presentations and workshops. Keynote speakers will include Loel Solomon, PhD, MPP, vice president of community health for Kaiser Permanente’s Community Benefit Program, and Jan Nedergaard, PhD, professor of the department of molecular biosciences at the Wenner-Gren Institute at Stockholm University.

ObesityWeek is being hosted by The Obesity Society and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The societies will be joined by nearly 30 partner organizations that will contribute to the educational agenda.

Attendees will have the opportunity to earn more than 30 continuing medical education credits in sessions ranging from obesity surgery, clinical intervention, prevention, research, public policy and more.

ObesityWeek 2015 is expected to be the biggest one yet; hear directly from past attendees on their experiences at the conference in this video.
