Incyte has launched the Vitiligo Innovators Program to honor exceptional individuals who have made significant contributions to the vitiligo community, according to a company press release.

Noted as the first of its kind for vitiligo at Incyte, the Vitiligo Innovators Program offers opportunities for patients, caregivers, advocates, researchers, medical students, residents and health care providers to be honored for their hard work and dedication in helping the vitiligo community.

“We are committed to empowering the vitiligo community through the Incyte Ingenuity Awards in Vitiligo and the new Vitiligo Innovators Program,” Matteo Trotta, executive vice president and general manager of U.S. Dermatology at Incyte, said in the release. “By supporting these impactful initiatives and recognizing individuals who have made significant strides in their unwavering commitment to this community, we believe we can truly make a difference for those living with this condition."

Additionally, Incyte announced the recipients of its 2023 Incyte Ingenuity Awards. The first winner was UMass Medical School, Department of Dermatology, which received an up to $100,000 award to implement its project, Removing Educational Equity Barriers for Individuals with Vitiligo, which is dedicated to identifying and filling the gaps of vitiligo education in public schools.

The second award of up to $35,000 was given to Litty Ligo Vitiligo Community Network to launch its program Beautiful Both Ways: A Celebration of You. This initiative aims to acknowledge and provide support for those in the vitiligo community experiencing some of the most commonly reported obstacles associated with this condition, including mental health.

Nominations are open until Oct. 31 for Incyte’s 2024 Vitiligo Innovators Program and the Incyte Ingenuity Awards in Vitiligo.
