CLEVELAND — For patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria, lab testing can help to phenotype disease and guide treatment, according to James Fernandez, MD, PhD, an allergy and immunology specialist at the Cleveland Clinic.

In this video perspective from the Medical Dermatology Therapy Update III meeting, Fernandez highlights some of the treatment options currently available to these patients, as well as some on the horizon.

While previous research indicated lab testing was not needed, new data suggest collecting these samples and testing can help lead practitioners in the right direction when deciding on treatment.
