In this Healio exclusive video, Steven R. Feldman, MD, PhD, discussed hidradenitis suppurativa research from the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting, examining two studies into its treatment.

Feldman, professor of dermatology, pathology and social sciences and health policy at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, discussed a phase 2 double-blind study into the use of lutikizumab, along with the role of B cells into the condition’s pathogenesis, comparing the results with psoriasis treatment.

“When we talk about the development of new drugs for atopic (dermatitis) or psoriasis, I don’t need anything more effective, I really need safer products,” Feldman said. “But for HS, I’m desperate for things that are more effective. And so, somebody brings me a [Janus kinase] inhibitor for HS, I look at that differently than I would look at it for psoriasis or for atopic dermatitis.”
