In this Healio exclusive video, Ronda S. Farah, MD, FAAD, discusses a session on follicular rescue in scarring alopecia from this year’s American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting.

“There’s been a lot of changes,” Farah, an associate professor in the department of dermatology at University of Minnesota, told Healio.

Farah presented in the session, which was directed by Crystal Aguh, MD, FAAD, director of the Ethnic Skin Program and associate professor of dermatology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and included speakers Lindsey Bordone, MD, FAAD, a dermatologist in the department of dermatology at Columbia University Medical Center; Loren Krueger, MD, FAAD, assistant professor of dermatology at Emory University School of Medicine; and Maryanne Makredes Senna, MD, FAAD, assistant professor of dermatology at Harvard Medical School.

The session highlighted how to assess hair loss, contact allergies, medically complex scarring alopecia and procedures for follicular rescue.

“Definitely take a peek at that lecture if you treat a lot of scarring alopecia,” Farah said.
