The National Rosacea Society has introduced a seal of acceptance program to identify skin care products that are safe for sensitive skin.
“One of the most common requests the [National Rosacea Society (NRS)] receives from rosacea patients is for information and advice about which skin care and cosmetic products are appropriate to use,” Andrew Huff, president and executive director of the NRS, said in a press release. “We are pleased to offer this resource to rosacea sufferers by recognizing products that have been shown to be unlikely to cause irritation or a flare-up.”
The Seal of Acceptance will be placed on the packaging of products that are free of ingredients that could cause damaged skin barrier function, vasomotor instability or unwanted neurosensory stimulation such as burning and itching.
Companies can find out how to qualify at rosacea.org/seal-of-acceptance/information-for-companies or by emailing seal@rosacea.org. Each application will be anonymously reviewed by an independent panel of dermatologists, according to the release.
In addition to being able to display the seal on packaging, products will also be listed on the Rosacea.org website in a searchable and sortable database with a photo and description of the product.
