VIDEO: Caution on exosome use in alopecia emphasized at AAD Annual Meeting

NEW ORLEANS — In this Healio video exclusive, Ronda S. Farah, MD, discusses exosomes — which are not approved by the FDA — as new treatment options for hair growth in patients with alopecia.

The current status on injectable exosomes in hair growth, which was presented at the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting, demonstrated that patients with alopecia should be warned against their use.

“There are not good human studies on the use of injectable exosomes for hair growth. ... So, I caution the audience on using exosomes,” Farah, associate professor of dermatology at University of Minnesota, said.
