The 13th annual Skin of Color Update meeting will return to an in-person format this year in New York City and focus on how dermatologic conditions affect individuals with skin of color.

“The Skin of Color Update meeting is really the premiere CME event for practical and relevant information for dermatologists and others who treat dermatologic disorders to better understand nuances in the approach to treatment and diagnosis of conditions in patients with skin of color,” Andrew F. Alexis, MD, MPH, cofounder and cochair of the meeting, told Healio.

The meeting will be held Sept. 9 to 11 at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel and will feature triple the number of faculty members from the last in-person meeting in 2019.

The diverse group of experts will cover a broad spectrum of topics using in-depth presentations, interactive panels, case-based discussions and live demonstrations, according to Alexis.

“We cover the full gamut of medical dermatologic topics as well as aesthetic dermatologic topics, highlighting where there are nuances or unique iterations and specific populations with skin of color,” he said.

“Because this is a population that has generally been underserved and where there have been continued gaps in education and treatment options and research, this is a great forum for attendees to learn the latest advances and learn pearls and tips from experts who primarily treat populations with skin of color,” Alexis continued.

A preconference virtual symposium will also be held on Aug. 2 focusing on developing better diagnostic approaches for dermatologic conditions in individuals with skin of color.

Registration is available for most medical professionals for $329, with an early bird rate of $279 available through July 15. Registration is available at skinofcolorupdate.com.
