Welcome to the premier issue of Healio Psoriatic Disease, a publication developed to further educate and provide resources for dermatologic health care professionals on the burden of psoriatic disease and the emerging understanding of psoriasis as a systemic disease. Led by a nationally and internationally known peer perspective board comprised of physicians from medicine’s most prestigious institutions (listed below), it is our goal to bridge the knowledge gap between dermatology and rheumatology physicians and health care professionals to create the definitive, practical information resource for specialists and others who treat patients with psoriatic disease.
Healio Psoriatic Disease will be a resource dedicated to delivering timely, authoritative content regarding the diagnosis and treatment of psoriatic disease. It will include features and physician-submitted content concerning clinical trial and study updates, practice management issues and patient population data. Each issue will provide diverse content and insights into psoriatic disease management among dermatology and rheumatology health care professionals and how through collaboration they can positively affect patient care.
This issue features stimulating content with perspective from our board, as well as interviews with key opinion leaders in the psoriatic disease field. The cover story focuses on the ways in which the first-ever pediatric psoriasis guidelines will affect practice and patients. In a Q&A, Joel M. Gelfand, MD, MSCE, discusses low rates of vaccination in the psoriatic disease population and how patient education can help. Also featured are meeting highlights from Maui Derm for Dermatologists and South Beach Symposium. Lastly, the In the Journals section includes summaries of popular journal articles about the effect of psoriasis on pregnancy and fertility, and the latest research on COVID-19.
The peer perspective board and editors of Healio Psoriatic Disease have aimed to be on top of the trends and issues most important to the psoriatic disease physician’s practice. We hope you enjoy this first issue, and until the next, visit us online at Healio.com/PsD for regular updates.
