The American Academy of Dermatology has elected Mark D. Kaufmann, MD, FAAD, as its 2022 president.

Kaufmann, a graduate of New York University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a clinical associate professor of the department of dermatology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and serves as deputy chair of the AAD’s Patient Access and Payer Relations Committee, the AAD said in a press release.

In March 2021, Kaufmann will be installed as president-elect, with his 1-year term beginning in March 2022.

“I’m very optimistic about our specialty’s future,” Kaufmann said in the release. “While the need for quality dermatologic care will never end, the way in which it is delivered will change. With health care evolving on what feels like a day-to-day basis, I look forward to leading the AAD as it continues to advocate for and educate members on innovative ways to provide quality dermatologic care to their patients.”
