Valeant names senior VP, addition to board of directors

Valeant announced that it has appointed Arthur J. Shannon as senior vice president, head of investor relations and communications.

Shannon previously served as president of global corporate affairs and European investor relations at Perrigo. He has more than 20 years of experience in investor relations, according to a news release from Valeant.

Scott Hirsch will assume the role sf senior vice president, chief business strategy officer and will dedicate his time to initiatives including development and execution of a 5-year strategic plan, according to the release.

Valeant announced in a separate news release that John Paulson was elected to join its board of directors. Valeant now has 10 independent board of directors on its 11-member board.

Paulson is president of Paulson & Co., a New York-based investment firm.
