Reusable fat collection and grafting system receives FDA clearance

A reusable fat collection and grafting system known as the Lipo-Loop System today became the first to receive FDA clearance, according to a statement from Millennium Medical Technologies.

The clearance includes liposuction and body shaping components that the company offers and is approved for low weight, sterile, disposable lids, along with a bag, for collection and transfer of the fat, according to the statement. The company noted that many of its products can be used in conjunction with the new device, such as pumps, tubing, cannulas, and a soft tissue harvesting device.

A spokesperson from the company said that viable adipose tissue and supporting regenerative cells may be harvested and saved in a 45-minute procedure.

The system is indicated for the breast, buttock, or large volume contouring, along with natural breast augmentation and breast reconstruction. Other uses included capsular contracture, radiated breast or body tissue, deformity after injury, orthopedic procedures and various facial interventions, according to the statement. – by Rob Volansky
