ORLANDO, Fla. — In a video perspective from the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting, Vicki Lawrence discusses her diagnosis of chronic idiopathic urticaria and the patient educational campaign that she represents.

Lawrence, well known for her roles on “The Carol Burnett Show” and “Mama’s Family,” was diagnosed with chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU) about 6 years ago. She is part of “CIU & You,” a resource program for patients with CIU supported by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and sponsored by Genentech and Novartis.

She told Healio.com/Dermatology that she wanted dermatologists to know what is it like to go through the process to get a diagnosis and the importance of emotional support for patients.
