South Beach Symposium offers unique educational opportunities for dermatology, clinical aesthetics

The upcoming 15th annual South Beach Symposium will provide educational content on the newest therapies, technologies, procedures and practice guidelines for physicians and practitioners in the field of dermatology and aesthetic medicine, according to the meeting’s website.

Mark S. Nestor, MD, PhD, symposium chair, has brought together a faculty of leading international specialists in the fields of dermatology and clinical aesthetics to offer live patient demonstrations and educational panels.

“South Beach Symposium is just one of those meetings we always want to be at. It's one of those meetings I put on my calendar a year in advance,” Michael H. Gold, MD, of Gold Skin Care Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and a member of the symposium’s planning committee, told Healio.com/Aesthetics. “It’s cutting edge medical and it’s cutting edge aesthetics. That’s what makes it different. There are medical meetings, there are aesthetics meetings, but to be able to do both well — I run three meetings around the world, I know the challenges involved — to be able to do both is very hard.”

Gold noted that the meeting is often one of the first U.S. meetings of the year for dermatology and aesthetics, which helps generate dialogue and interest within the industry for 2017.

Scheduled for Feb. 9 to 12 in Miami, this year’s meeting will feature sessions on superficial radiation, diagnostics and treatment for melanoma, anti-aging, therapeutics, acne, aesthetic anatomy, injectables and fillers, absorbable lifting sutures, new devices, innovative industry breakthroughs, practice management and more.

“The meeting has a wonderful exhibition hall that lets people see products and what’s new and different,” Gold added. “And it’s South Beach in the winter. You don’t want to downplay that.”
