National Psoriasis Foundation awards grants for 23 new projects in 2016

The National Psoriasis Foundation announced in a press release it has awarded more than $1.9 million in research in 2016, including 23 projects around the world.

Research funded by the National Psoriasis foundation includes basic science and clinical approaches, with the investigations of novel treatments, the genetic basis of psoriatic disease and the role of the microbiome in disease development, according to the release.

Awards for grants and fellowships included:

Discovery grants to Lihi Eder, MD, PhD; Andre Johnston, PhD; Amy Paller, MD; Unnikrisanan Chandrasekharan, PhD; Joseph Larkin, PhD; Golnaz Vahedi, PhD; and Brian Zabel, PhD.

Translational research grants were awarded to Stephen Ley, PhD; Peter Marinkovich, MD; and Mrinal Sarkar, PhD.

The Bill and Jodi Felton Psoriatic Arthritis Research Grant was awarded to Lam (Alex) Tsoi, PhD.

Early career research grants were awarded to Jackelyn Golden, PhD; Oliver Harrison, PhD; Denjua Karaunakaran, PhD; and Denis Mogilenko, PhD.

Fellowships were awarded to Peter Hashim, MD; Shalini Krishnasamy, MD; Stephen Lockwood, MD; Pablo Michel, MD; Megan Noe, MD, MPH; Di Yan, BA; and Yun (Larry) Tong, MD.
