ASDS awards clinical research grants

The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery recently announced in a press release it has awarded seven clinical research grants.

Grant recipients include Divya Srivastava, MD, of University of Texas Southwestern for research on patient satisfaction with Mohs micrographic surgery to treat melanoma in situ and Ekama O. Carlson, MD, PhD, of University of California for research on outcomes of skin cancer in non-white organ recipients.

A total of $99,522 was award through the ASDS’ Cutting Edge Research Grant program, according to the release.

Other grant recipients and their proposed research include:

Karen L. Connolly, MD, of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, “Assessment of health-related quality of life in patients with localized stage 0 and 1 head and neck melanoma.”

Sherrif F. Ibrahim, MD, PhD, of University of Rochester, “Fractionally ablative Er:YAG laser resurfacing for thermal burn scars, a prospective split-burn cohort study.”

Joshua B. Kentosh, DO, of Walter Reed National Medical Center, “Microwave ablation of eccrine glands as a treatment of hyperhidrosis in amputees.”

Kachiu C. Lee, MD, of Rhode Island Hospital, “What’s in laser hair plume?”

Desiree Ratner, MD, of Mount Sinai Beth Israel, “Evaluation of the histochemical and immunohistochemical effects of cetuximab in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.”
