Rohrer begins term as ASDS president, other officers elected

The American Society of Dermatologic Surgery announced that Thomas E. Rohrer, MD, began his term as president of the society and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Association during the ASDS annual meeting in New Orleans.

Rohrer, a physician at Skin Care Physicians in Chestnut Hill, Mass., and adjunct associate professor of dermatology at Brown University in Rhode Island, succeeds Naomi Lawrence, MD, as president of the largest specialty organization exclusively representing dermatologic surgeons, according to a press release from ASDS.

Lisa M. Donofrio, MD, began her term as president-elect, and will become ASDS president in 2017. Donofrio is a partner at the Savin Center PC in New Haven, Conn, and an associate clinical professor in the dermatology department at Yale University School of Medicine and assistant clinical professor in the dermatology Department at Tulane University School of Medicine.

Murad Alam, MD, MBA, began his term as vice president, and is expected to be named president-elect in 2017 and president in 2018, according to the release. Alam is vice chair of the dermatology department at Northwestern University, where he also services as a professor of dermatology, otolaryngology and surgery and section chief of cutaneous and aesthetic surgery.

Doris J. Day, MD, of New York, Lawrence J. Green, MD, of Rockville, MD, and Margaret A. Weiss, MD, of Hunt Valley, Maryland, were elected to three-year terms on the ASDS/American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Association, and will serve through the 2019 ASDS annual meeting.

Sue Ellen Cox, MD, began her term as ASDS secretary, according to the release.
