Research finding that low-dose hyaluronic acid filler for midface volume loss produced high satisfaction in patients was among recent developments reported on Healio.com/Dermatology.

Other developments included Allergan’s announcement that Juvéderm Volbella XC is now available to physicians and patients for lip augmentation and for correction of perioral rhytids in adults:

Low dose hyaluronic acid filler for midface volume loss produces high satisfaction in patients

Low-volume doses of hyaluronic acid filler to treat age-related midface volume loss led to similar or better results than higher-volume doses, according to study results published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery.

The retrospective study included 61 eligible patients who had undergone midface rejuvenation for mild-to-severe facial volume loss between Nov. 1, 2013 and April 31, 2014. Read more

Juvéderm Volbella XC available to physicians for lip augmentation, perioral rhytids

Allergan plc has announced that Juvéderm Volbella XC is now available to physicians and patients for lip augmentation and for correction of perioral rhytids in adults aged over 21 years.

Juvéderm Volbella XC injectable gel was found to be effective in increasing lip fullness and softening the appearance around the mouth of patients through one year in clinical trials, according to a press release. Read more

Face-Q Eye Module measures patient satisfaction with cosmetic eye treatment

The FACE-Q Eye Module is a validated patient-reported outcome measure for analyzing patient satisfaction and adverse effects following cosmetic eye treatments, according to study results published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery.

The module of the FACE-Q measurement [Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center] includes four appearance scales that each contain seven items regarding appearance. Read more

NeoStrata launches retinol peel

NeoStrata Company announced it is launching NeoStrata ProSystem Retinol Peel, the first retinol peel in the company’s brand of high performance peels.

The physician-strength peel contains 3% retinol plus retinol-boosting ingredientsto exfoliate, improve appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, help reduce acne and improve skin laxity, according to a press release. Read more

Juvéderm Volift effective in treating nasolabial folds up to 1 year

Juvéderm Volift with lidocaine was effective in treating moderate-to-severe nasolabial folds and well-tolerated by patients, with effects lasting to 1 year, according to study results recently published in Dermatologic Surgery.

Researchers studied 70 patients (mean age, 49 years; 94% women) with moderate-to-severe nasolabial folds (NLF) recruited between June 2012 and January 2013 from three centers in Germany and the Netherlands.  Read more
