Valeant names Yu chief quality officer

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International has appointed Louis W. Yu, PhD, to the recently created position of chief quality officer, global quality.

Yu will be part of Valeant’s executive committee and will oversee all aspects of quality and regulatory compliance for all of Valeant’s global business and operating sites, according to a press release.

Yu has more than 30 years of experience with generic and branded pharmaceuticals companies and was executive vice president, global quality and compliance at The Perrigo Company from November 2006 to January 2016, with responsibilities including regulatory compliance, according to the release. Between May and September 2016, Yu served as senior vice president, global quality and compliance at AMRI, a contract development and manufacturing organization.

Yu will report to Joseph C. Papa, chairman and CEO of Valeant.

“Dr. Yu’s deep quality leadership experience at a number of branded and generic pharmaceutical companies gives him a deep understanding of what our customers and regulators need,” Papa stated in the release.
