“As a basic science researcher myself, I’m particularly thrilled to lead The Plastic Surgery Foundation this year. I am excited to support our research mission and ensure that we continue to advance the field of plastic surgery and the quality of patient care through innovation and discovery,” Cederna said to Healio.com, regarding his new position. “The PSF supports our innovators’ idea and educates our basic science and clinical investigators about the relevancy, impact and possibilities that their ideas hold, working to help people in all corners of the world.  Through our support of clinically relevant research, The PSF creates the gold standard of care for plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, and I’m eager to advance that undertaking with my colleagues.”

Cederna’s prior positions include chairman of the Plastic Surgery Research Council, president of the American Society for Peripheral Nerve and president of the Michigan Academy of Plastic Surgeons. He also serves on the board of directors of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and the board of directors for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and Plastic Surgery Foundation.
